I get music recommendations all the time and sometimes I know a recommendation is something I want to check out. And recommend here.

I’ve been listening to a lot of jazz podcasts lately and thought I’d share the tastier items.

NPR Jazz Profiles – I haven’t delved into this much, but the 2-part Ellington profile was great.

NPR Fresh Air – I generally love this show’s music and book reviews. A recent piece on electroswing was engaging. There’s a deep archive of goodies.

Geoffrey Smith’s Jazz on BBC Radio 3 – Smith’s enthusiasm for the music is infectious and he has a wide ranging interest.

Desert Island Discs on BBC Radio 4 – The archive is great – alas the music on the downloadable versions of these great shows has to be truncated for copyright reasons.

Jazz Insights with Dr. Gordon Vernick on WMLB Atlanta – again, a great archive of fantastic peeks into the history of jazz.

Radio West with Doug Fabrizio on KUER Salt Lake City is not generally about music, but Fabrizio did a fantastic portrait of compose LaMonte Young.

Sunn O))) live music archive on Bandcamp.

Stick Men live music archive on Bandcamp. (Stick Men comprise touch guitarist Markus Reuter, drummer Pat Mastelotto, and bassist/Chapman Stick master Tony Levin. Pat and Tony are also members of King Crimson.

Doom & Sludge playlist on Spotify. Sometimes it’s just what the doctor ordered.
